International Health Programs Working to end blindness and diabetes
Sight Programs: Nearly 80% of the world's 39 million blind people would be able to
see again if they had access to eye care services. In the past year
alone, Seva supported programs served over one million people in some of
the world's poorest communities, including 85,000 people who received
cataract surgery to restore their eyesight. With partners in 12
countries around the world, Seva is working to reduce avoidable
blindness by helping communities to develop high quality, affordable eye
care services that they can sustain on their own. Learn more
Native Health Programs: Type 2 diabetes rates are higher for Native Americans than any other
group in the world, affecting more than 50% of adults in many
communities. It doesn’t have to be this way. Because these
devastating diseases stem from rapid changes to indigenous societies and
the environment, health interventions must be culturally-based and
holistically address these factors. Seva’s Native American Community
Health Program builds the capacity of standout Native American
organizations working to increase community-based management of disease
prevention and health promotion strategies. Learn more
