Seva Special Events: The Story

For more than 30 years, Seva co-founder Wavy Gravy has been producing benefit concerts to raise FUNds (as he likes to say!) and raise awareness about Seva's health programs.  We are fortunate to have dozens of great artists who donate their time and talent to support the cause.  

It all began back in 1979 with the Grateful Dead, who donated $100,000 from a concert in Oakland, California.

Over the years, an amazing array of artists have helped Seva become an organization strongly supported by the music community. 

The concerts bring together artists, volunteers, staff, donors and the general public for a common cause — to alleviate suffering and build sustainable solutions to poverty and disease.

Seva's concerts have raised several million dollars to support our programs around the world.
