Portland Event Raises over $11.5K
Restoring Eyesight to Hundreds of Indian Children

soor aur saptak.JPG

Seva is extremely grateful to Soor Aur Saptak™ for organizing an incredibly successful fundraising event on the Intel campus in Hillsboro, Oregon this past month.

Seva’s Development Director, Julie Nestingen, explains, “the feeling throughout the entire night was one of great compassion and a strong sense of community. The turnout was fantastic as was the desire to help provide eye care for Indian children whose families' couldn't afford it. It was extremely touching. Amazing also was the number of people who stopped by the Seva booth to thank Seva for doing this work. Soor Aur Saptak™ and the crowd that night are the ones to be thanked.”

Soor Aur Saptak™ was started by a group of very motivated & talented singers for the sole purpose of raising money for the needy causes through music, mainly for giving back to the society. “We were very pleased that the event was a sold-out, with supporters filling every seat in the 465 capacity theater. We were truly ecstatic to perform in front an enthusiastic crowd and we had fun doing this program”, commented the Soor Aur Saptak™ team represented by Mini Jairaj, Vinod Natarajan, Malavi Mudigonda, Jyoti Veeramoney, Abhinav Rastogi, Sai and Usha Prasad, Prashant Kakad, Priya Venugopal, Anil Prakasam, Sharad Khetan, Gidu Sriram, and Sandhiprakash (Sandhi) and Anjali Bhide.

Over $11,500 was raised during the event, Sandhi acknowledges that “this has all been possible because of kind and generous support from Intel and its VP of Human Resources, Richard Taylor, for allowing us to use the auditorium, all the attendees, all the donors, and a large number of volunteers. It has been an amazing journey.”

Jack Blanks, Seva’s Executive Director thanks the group, saying “not only are the members of Soor Aur Saptak™ incredibly talented performers but they have hearts of gold! Their fundraising efforts are enabling Seva to restore sight to hundreds of blind and visually impaired Indian children.“
