Seva is grateful to Soor Aur Saptak™ for organizing an incredibly successful Bollywood Karaoke fundraising event on the Intel campus in Hillsboro, Oregon earlier this month.
Seva’s Executive Director, Jack Blanks, explains, “there was a feeling throughout the entire evening of great compassion and a strong sense of community. The turnout was fantastic as was the desire to help provide eye surgery for visually impaired and blind Indian children whose families otherwise could not get care for their kids. I was very touched. Thank you to Soor Aur Saptak™ and the wonderful crowd who came out to support Seva's programs to prevent pediatric blindness.”
Soor Aur Saptak™ was started by a group of motivated & talented singers for the sole purpose of raising money for the needy causes through music, mainly for giving back to the society. “We were truly ecstatic to perform in front an enthusiastic crowd and we had fun doing this program”, commented the Soor Aur Saptak™ team represented by Mini Jairaj, Sai and Usha Prasad, Priya Venugopal, Anil Prakasam, Malavi Mudigonda, Abhinav Rastogi, Jyoti Veeramoney, Sharad Khetan, Vinod Natarajan, Gidu Sriram, and Sandhiprakash (Sandhi) and Anjali Bhide.
Over $19,000 was raised during the event and Sandhi Bhide acknowledged that “this
has all been possible because of kind and generous support from so many, including Intel and its VP of Human Resources, Richard Taylor, for allowing us to use
the auditorium, all the attendees, all the donors, and a large number of
dedicated and motivated volunteers and their selfless help in terms of effort and time. It has been an amazing journey.”
Jack Blanks thanked the group, saying “not only are the members of Soor Aur Saptak™ incredibly talented performers but they have hearts of gold! Their fundraising efforts are enabling Seva to restore sight to hundreds of blind and visually impaired Indian children.“
